Day of the Dead 2015

Welcome to the...

☠ ☠ ☠ DAY OF THE DEAD 2015 ☠ ☠ ☠

We are more than excited to invite you to celebrate one of the most infamous holidays in our yearly calendar “El Día de los Muertos”!!

A 3000 year old Mexican celebration that has gain international fame due to its strong, colourful, picturesque, and artistic representation of the death. We pay respect to this celebration and we extract the colourful essence and the powerful visual content to inspire us to host this theme party.

We have successfully been running this event for more than 4 years and every year just gets bigger and deadlier. Following on from last year’s huge success, we have prepared a killer and unique crew of artists, musicians, DJ’s, performers and burlesque dancers joining us from the afterlife for one night only.

All locked in a larger space to now running across two rooms at the wonderful JAM GALLERY with the most exquisite, darkest music from around the world.

☠ ☠ ☠ This is one party worth Dying for! ☠ ☠ ☠

"When The Crooked Fiddle Band hit the stage, it was like someone put 10,000 volts through the dancefloor" (Beat Magazine). Energetic and epic, The Crooked Fiddle Band have developed a singular sound known as 'chainsaw folk' over two albums and four european tours. The band has worked with Steve Albini (Nirvana) and Brian Eno, who proclaimed the band's blend of traditional music and post-rock "unique and quixotic - I can't say I've ever heard anything like it!"

MALO MALO is Sydney’s favorite Salsa dura Orchestra. Even the most skeptical partygoer will be dancing from the start.
An 8 piece Salsa Orchestra formed by pianist Danny G Felix performing original and classic salsa heavily influenced by the 70's sound!

☠ Art Exhibition:

( Visual/street-artist )

Goya is a visual/street-artist based in the Northern Beaches in Sydney, originally born in Mexico, who creates artwork with vivid characters in a figurative-surrealistic style with a profound narrative. Her practice moves towards blurring the separation line between fine arts, street-art and illustration in order to develop a visual contemporary language that reflects reality nowadays.

Primarily a self-taught artist, Goya Torres artistically draws inspiration from her mexican heritage, traditions and culture, as well as nature, street art and pop surrealism. She predominately uses a mix traditional media such as oils, acrylics, spray-paint and printmaking techniques on canvas, paper and wood. She has also painted fiberglass sculptures for public art trails and murals.

After she relocated in Sydney five years ago, Goya Torres has been involved in group exhibitions, live-painting events, mural and public art projects. She has exhibited interstate in Australia and internationally in Mexico, Latino-america, USA and Germany. Some of her artwork is now part of private collections in Sydney, Melbourne and Mexico
